Screws way too tight on NZXT Phantom

I recently got my RMA NZXT Phantom from Newegg. The thumbscrews were so tight I needed a screwdriver. Then I realized my non-modular PSU wasn't going to fit in with the 2 extra drive bays, but that shouldn't have been an issue because they're built to be removed, right? Wrong.

The 8 screws holding the little expansion cage are ungodly tight, and I know I'll strip them attempting a screwdriver. Any suggestions on loosening these guys up?

WD40 at the thumbscrew threads and pliers with tape or anything soft to grip the thumbscrew grooves. Should come off easily unless you're lacking upper body strength. :hmm:

Are you sure you are using the right screws? Not sure with NZXT cases, but for instance Lian Li loves to use fine threaded screws for their cases (like what optical drives use) instead of the normal coarse threaded screws that most case manufacturers use.
