i currently installed winamp3, and it screwed up my 2.8 installation. (there is a lot of freezing in between tracks, and EVERYTHING is sluggish). i tried uninstalling and installing winamp back again. then i deleted all the regkeys relating to winamp and reinstalled 2.8, nothing. so, is there any other program like winamp, but not?

try installing 2.8 in another directory, try rebooting if you haven't. If it's still screwed... well then that's strange. Maybe a winamp3 "feature"? :Q

I've always liked Sonique better anyway. I spent an hour testing them one day and found that Sonique even sounds a little better.

Uh... isn't the whole point to installing 3.0 to overwrite 2.8? How do you expect 2.8 to function properly when Winamp changes the .DLLs, registry keys, and other key program files?

If you're going to install Winamp 3.0, then use Winamp 3.0 goddammit. Why'd you install it if you're just going to keep using 2.8??

After all... you can always uninstall all of it and reinstall 2.8. You have the 2.8 installer, right? If not, I'll host the 2.8 installer and you can download it from me.

i've tried reinstalling it, many times, then i started changing regkeys, and still the same. i don't like how winamp3 is with all their new features, i liked the ease of use of the previous version better. thanks for the input guys!

I second that Quintessential player is good, I use it as my default player, much better and more stable than Winamp.
