Alright, I have two networked computers:

Computer A = Windows ME, workgroup: ONE
Computer B = Windows 2000, domain: ONE

I can see both computers in network neighborhood, but I can only access Computer A from Computer B. I try to access the Computer B, and it says it "\\Computer A Cannot be Accessed 'unknown error 2455 (or something like that)".

Does anyone have any clue as to where to start in fixing this??? Btw, both computers had been properly configured on a netowork before I installed win2k on Computer B, and worked fine.

p.s.- Accessing all of the folder names through the network is really slow, but i have a 100mbps lan setup (the domain maybe?)

You'll want the w2k computer to be in a workgroup, not a domain. Create new shares on the w2k computer and give access to Everybody. You'll have to log into the w2k computer, over the network, with a user/password that is set up on w2k.

do you want to have a domain? do you HAVE a domain right now? Your server computer will be a workgroup unless you specifically setup a domain. On computer b create a user account that is the same as the logon name that you use for winme. If you do have a domain setup on computer b, why dont you login to that domain with computer a?

Also, remember that you may also need to logon ME correctly in order to have access to certain folders in Computer B.

The domain is for my work, it lets me have a connection there over the internet, so it is necessary. I suppose it would be possible for me to log on to the domain from the Windows ME computer, but wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having my home lan? I also believe it would be much slower if it had to go through the internet first, then to the computer, or am I wrong?

As far as the accounts go, I have the same name/password to log into both computers. The Windows ME computer uses Client for Microsoft Network (tried windows logon too) to logon. Is there some other user/pass thing I need to setup in Win2K?

Any additional help would be great, thanks~

Since you have to change your server's network configuration between work domain and home workgroup, you can perhaps ease the task by using Netswitcher.
