Screwed up Nvidia System Sentinel Messages

Trying to keep this short... computer is about 9 months old and has ran fine until about 3 weeks ago when I start getting Nvidia System Sentinel messages about insufficient power on my BFG 6600GT. Thought it was power supply but it turns out the power supply was fine and holding about 12v even. Bought OCZ powerstream 520W before I realized and now have OCZ in the system. Loaded up NFS Most Wanted and after about an hour of play I'm getting the same damn power messages. The rails are all at or above their rating. Has anyone else had an issue like this with a 6600GT? I'm starting to think it's time for BFG to cough up for their lifetime warranty.

Do you have the 4 pin molex and floppy power leads connected to the inputs above the top PCI-E slot on the DFI, and a 4 pin molex connected to the video card? If not then you should connect them.

Yes I do.. always have. My 6600GT is PCIe though, it has no power connector. It's drawing power through the motherboard. This whole thing worked great for about 8 months then suddenly gives these problems. I just got done using driver cleaner and reinstalling drivers, but the message still pops up.

It appears to be a reoccuring issue with the 6600GT. Even though you've tried new drivers I'd still recommend different ones.

I was having issues when running the test system with two 6600 GT OC's in SLI mode. During benchmarks, the NVIDIA Sentinel warning system kicked in and indicated that not enough power was being fed to the cards. I checked the cards to make sure they were inserted fully, and I did some other minor trial and error troubleshooting. Nothing I did seemed to fix the problem, and I wasn't worried about the power supply since this system has a 680W unit in it. I decided to just go ahead and call tech support at about 6:30pm to see if they had any reports of issues with the cards or maybe even the PSU or motherboard I was using. After a very short wait on hold, I talked to a very nice support person who suggested that I use Driver Cleaner and reinstall the drivers (he suggested the 71.90 drivers from guru3d.com). I tried the suggested steps but went with the 66.93 drivers instead since I needed to use those for the comparison to previous benchmarks. The Sentinel system hasn't popped up again since then. It's really great to have such quick and easy-to-use 24x7 tech support available after purchasing a product.

Also you may want to make sure the card doesn't have any dust buildup. Excessive heat can also trigger the sentinel message.
