My drives were originally: a, c, e (dvd), f (cd-rw) and g (canon memory card usb device).
Last night, I discovered that somehow my e and f drives got reversed. I was installing a game and allowed it to update DX to DX9. After a really long installation process, I got absolutely no video on my DVD drive. Tried other DVD's and nothing. Now, I can't play audio or video on the DVD drive, and it doesn't read a disk if one is put in there. If there is no drive in the f drive, if I click it, I get a prompt that there's an i/o input error - access denied. But, if I put a DVD in the f drive, PowerDVD starts up and the movie will play (f is supposed to be the Plextor drive).
Windows 2000
Pioneer DVD-ROM 115
Plextor CD-RW PX-W2410A
I tried Drive Mapping using Partition Magic and that didn't work. Windows Explorer is reading the E drive as the DVD drive and the F drive as the CD-RW drive. Device Manager says the drives are working. Cables, etc. are fine. I don't want to do anything else without some help, primarily because I don't want to screw up anything more than it already is.
I am totally confused. How do I get my DVD drive working and back to be the E drive and the CD-RW to the F drive? I really could use some suggestions . . . .
