Well I did this:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=34&threadid=1570774&enterthread=y
Well first off, whenever I started, it asked which OS to start from (I got an option between two Windows XP Home). Which one i chose depended on which hard drive it booted windows from....

but...
I just tried disconnecting my prim hard drive, and it didnt boot off the 2nd one. I switched plugs so the second hard drive was plugged into where the primary one was. It did not boot up still. I should mention that the 2nd one was always set to slave by the jumpers and the first one to master by the jumpers (nt sure if that matters because I only had one hard drive hooked up at a time? could that be the problem or is it the boot sectors not being loaded?)

*Also as a note, because this is a Dell 2400 (with a 4600 motherboard) I had to keep the primary hard drive on the original jumper cable that only had one plug on it, and I have the 2nd hard drive on the jumper cable that has the cd-rom on it plus one extra plug.

*Now that I have this original config back, my computer wont read the 2nd hard drive, believing it is not formatted. Anyway I can get this back? I dont want to have to re-download all that music and movies etc (and some homework!).

Cliff Notes: Disconnected My 2nd hard drive, and when I reconnected it, the computer says its not formated, even though it was (NTFS) before and worked fine. The second hard drive is on same cable as the cd-rom drive, not same as the primary hard drive.

Any way to get my computer to recognize this hard drive as formatted and able to read the data?

And you likely won't get an answer here. You've already started the other thread, continue it there. It's rude and confusing to continue this in a different thread AND a different forum to boot.

this is true, sorry.

anyway I fixed it. How? idk, i disconnected thigns, reconnected them, put ut back to original config once again and guess what...everything is working, the hard drive is being read as it once was, all my data is there.

o well, sometimes you just gotta mess with stuff.
