When I boot up my computer, before Windows is loaded I get a message that says "error in Explorere.exe" and it tells me that I must reinstall Windows.

Is there any way I can avoid reinstalling Windows? It is my understanding that after reinstalling Windows I must reinstall all hardware and software again. 🙁

If you've got 9x (95-98-Me) you can just reinstall windows right on top without losing any data or having to reinstall (in most cases)

Just put the CD and install it right on top of old installation

Also, if you have Win2k, there is a repair option for windows if you boot off the CD. It doesn't take very long and you won't lose any information either....
