I was just coming to post this.... I weep. WEEP.

Though I do nominate Jackie Chan or Ken Jeong for Egg Shen.
I still won't go to see it though.

Jack Burton is rolling over in his fucking grave.

I hate that they want to remake this because the original is so awesome.

But, The Rock is a pretty bad ass dude so I guess if they have to, he's as good as any.

They could have made a sequel instead. "Return to Little China?" OP is right, this is going to blow.

A sequel could actually work. Probably not well but could have some potential where I think a remake will flat out fail. Maybe The Rock could somehow pull Jack Burton out of one of the dimensions referred to in the original film as sort of a cameo to kick start the whole thing?

Who knows just something that pays a bit of homage to the original and then goes from there would be better I think.

The thing about remakes is they aren't making them for us, the old folks that saw the originals when they were new.

I like Dwayne Johnson but he's no Kurt Russell. Nobody nails the John Wayne meets Jim Rockford thing like Kurt Russell.
I love the movie, but there's a fine line between lovable and just plain bad. I hope they find a different direction to go with it and not just update with modern actors.

Maybe less hokey, more straight action with some magic mixed in. Better music, better special FX, and Johnson has funny lines, but is a legitimate butt kicker.
I'll keep an open mind.

While I do like the original I am not against a remake. The original did have a semi confusing plot and there is surprisingly a big chunk of downtime. I'm just worried its going to turn into a white-washed CGI crapfest

What I really do like about the original is how Kurt Russell was not really the defacto action hero of the film, he was more of a comic relief while his sidekick did a bunch of the ass kicking.

The actors themselves kinda of made Big Trouble in Little China work for me.

Seeing someone else do Jack Burton or Kim Catrall when she was young would just screw it up for me I guess.

I guess what's next, a Fifth Element or a Pulp Fiction remake ?
