at first i thought it was going to read that he stuck the barrel of the gun on the iron for leverage and it went off, but he really just got pissed off and shot the wheel?!

I understand how he feels, from working on an exhaust flange...he probably already tried to used the trigger hole as a leverage point and used the shotgun as a breaker bar and said f this

I think a 1/2" to 3/4" ratchet with a hardened impact wrench socket and a 6 foot piece of pipe while having the parking break set would have been a better choice.

I've so been there. Torqueing against bolts using a pipe for more leverage and snapping sockets left and right. Did some work with my friend on his girlfriend's Camry. The strut bolts were just bonded to the nuts. He soaked them in liquid wrench the day before, I used my electric impact wrench, 1/2 drive with a pipe extender, blow torch and the sucker wouldn't budge. Finally I busted out the dremel and cut the damn thing off. I hate having to give up and destroy a bolt to get it off but this one was not gonna go.

Strong, air-powered impact gun w/ impact socket (black). Haven't had anything yet that my Chicago Pneumatic couldn't handle.

Air wrenches or electric wrenches need not apply - this is the job for an impact gun, that's what they are made for.
