Ogg is VERY good. Sound-quality is better than on mp3, and it's 100% open and royalty- and patent-free. The reason why mp3 is more popular is simply because mp3 has been around longer (Ogg Vorbis 1.0 was only recently released). I do agree about WMA though.

Anyway, MPC and Vorbis don't really compete head-to-head. MPC is superior at high bitrates (>128kbps) and Vorbis is superior at moderate and low bitrates (<128kbps). This makes sense because MPC is a subband encoder while Vorbis is a transform encoder.

Y'all are lightweights.

92,837 songs -> 432.75GB -> 254:00:27:01 (days/hours/mins/secs) -> avg bitrate 169 -> avg length 3:56

MP3 rocks. Vorbis is nice, but until hardware players and other devices can utilize it... As for Monkey's ... been there, done that.

I just want a music format thats a resonable size for a resonable sounding audio file. Hard to beat mp3s on this one.
