Screw damaged. Now how do I remove the screw?

I was trying to clean my mouse and I just noticed that the screw is damaged. The screwdriver wont sit in properly and I need to remove this screw really badly. What is the best way to do this? Is there any oil/lubricant or something which will make it come out easier?

Thanks

Raj

How big is the screw? If it's a normal size screw (philips head I'm assuming) go to your nearest hardware store and get a set of easy outs. You'll have to be careful with those though since you have to tap them a bit to get them to seat in the screw and I doubt you want to wack on your mouse too hard. If it's a tiny one like on a pair of glasses or something you might be screwed. No idea how you'd get that out.

Heh... Probably easier (and cheaper) to just buy a new mouse.

If you are spending time cleaning your mouse, it's time to get an optical anyway. 😉

who says its a ball mouse? and why would you think it was anyways? what was the last ball mouse you had that required screws to hold the ball in?!?!?

What was the last optical mouse that required cleaning so badly that it had to be disassembled?

I was trying to clean my mouse Unless he's been running the mouse over a filthy floor chances are it wouldn't need cleaning if it was an optical. Ever.
