This was posted. But it is a HOT DEAL, and I don't mind the repost. When it was orginally posted it was $140 and many, including myself, jumped in. Those are excellent reviews of it!

Why memory is getting cheaper and cheaper every? Is that because DDR will come out pretty soon at cheap price therefore vendors are trying to get rid of their SDRAM stock and ready for DDR??

Just curious...

CP, I was just having the same thought before I got to your post. I have been holding out to buy a new Mobo and upgrade to 256MB of DDR Ram. However, in light of this deal ... I might go ahead and buy some!?! Decisions, decisions:confused:

If this is the same PC150 ram that is at mushkin, then its not that great. But from what I can tell its got those Tiny BGA chips, i used to have a stick on tiny BGA 64MB PC133, i must have got a bad stick wouldn't do 133CAS2. Now I've got some mosel vitalic. I got some 150CAS2 :D

is DDR the same as RDRAM? As in, double data rate RDRAM? A tad confused on my tech terminology.

Link description only states that it will run at Cas3. Not saying that it can't run Cas2 but its being sold as Cas3.

why is the ram cheaper? supply and demand, and of course the fact that all these new ram chips are using 8 chips instead of the old 16 standard for 128 meg of ram. less silicon = less price.

A lot depends on what mobo your using. For some reason, on 815 boards, the tinybga ram sucks. But on BX boards, it'll do 150 CAS2. Don't know bout Via boards. So be careful.

Personally, I'm getting Mushkin Rev2. This stuff runs on anything without problems. But the price sucks. Oh well, can't have everything in life.

This ram looks great, but We still need a few more answers,

mainly,

are we assured cas 2 150+ form mwave?

and also, how is mobo compatibility?

via 133, and kx 133?
BX and 815?

Thanks,Steve

no way mwave will assure cas2 at 150, but a lot of people have had great results with this RAM....

take your chances....

either way this is better than have nightmares buying low quality RAM from crappy vendors...

mushikin and crucial is the way to go if you have money to burn, but this Kingmax RAM is definitely a good choice if you don't want to spend too much money for quality stuff....

I have an Abit KT7-Raid. Has anyone used this RAM with the KT 133 chipset? Please let us know.
Thanks...

Valvoline6,

My question exactly. Has anyone tried this on the ASUS CUSL2? In particular, has anyone tried 3 sticks of the Kingmax RAM in the CUSL2?

EDIT
If this RAM works on the CUSL2, I'll be looking to unload my Mushkin PC150 HSDRAM. It is about 2 months old. Will Mushkin take it back? I hear their customer service is exceptional?
EDIT

I have used two sticks of 128MB Kingmax PC150 RAM in an ASUS A7V and an Abit KT7RAID and can verify that it works great. Both have had no trouble with it at CL2.:);)

Are the RAM modules located all on one side or on both sides of this RAM? From what I understand of the i815 chipset, the chipset will only take 4 sides of RAM reliably. So either only use two of the three slots for RAM if the RAM has modules on both sides. I would like to be able to use all three RAM slots on my CUSL2.

Also, has anyone tried three sticks of the Kingmax RAM on the CUSL2?

Hello, if I remember correctly this RAM autodetects as CAS3 but it is CAS 2, the reason it is cheaper is because those short tiny bga sticks use a different process and are cheaper to manufacture, at 150 it is 3-2-2, or at least, so I have heard, I thought about picking this up, I'll hold off for DDR, it's going for around 145$ (128mb) to vendors right now, should drop some when mass production kicks in.
