I want to be able to take screenshots while in a game and have them save directly onto my hard drive, instead of just copying to the clipboard and having to go into paint and saving it manually. It's just a hassle to have to hit print screen, then alt+tab out, especially if the game doesn't always enjoy alt+tab in the first place. If anyone knows of some good software, please let me know, thanks!

HyperSnap-DX is great for this, FRAPS isn't so great. HyperSnap can automatically save screenshots at your desired location on your computer, file type, and rename them to fit your naming scheme, whatever you want really.
