The Razr screen looks better than the SGS1 screen. The higher resolution makes the Pentile a little better.

With that said, I really dislike how text looks on the Razr compared to my SGS2 or an non-Pentile LCD I have seen. Pentile to me looks like Anti-Analyzing is broken, even on the Razr.

Otherwise the screen is nice, and the higher resolution made games look better than my SGS2. The colors are great, and the build quality of the phone is incredible. If you don't notice Pentile like I do it would be a really nice phone.

I don't see the fuss over pentile. It looks fine to me. It's not like I'd use a jeweler's loop to look at a phone LCD anyway.

Apparently the original pentile by Motorola on the Atrix? wasn't very good. After that, pentile became unpopular. I'm not sure what the current pentile looks like now, but the new hotness for 2012 is 720p no pentile.

nexus prime is rgb and 720p. Pretty much the best screen out looks wise.

My only concern is the gorilla glass, or lack thereof

I've seen the one on the Photon 4G and it's pretty damned good. I expected it to look like crap, given all the anti-pentile propaganda, but it didn't.

Now, the HTC Rezound. 1280x720 @ 4.3". ~340 PPI. Full RGB Stripe.

If the Photon is like the Atrix it isn't that bad. The Atrix looks WAY less Pentile than the Razr. The Atrix's text only looked bad on green backgrounds. The Razr makes me think "garbage."

arghhhhh. Well either way, im sure itll look great.

Up close screenshots make it look pretty good. Better than my SGS2.

Personally I can't wait till the RGB 720p AMOLED screens though. When those hit in late 2012 or early 2013 is when I am getting my next phone.

stopped by an ATT store today to check out some screens. The phones i compared were: My Captivate, skyrocket, and vivid.

First off i had a hard time believing that my phone has the same res as the skyrocket, because it absolutely blew it out of the water. Using the normal functions of the phone, you could tell there was a difference, but the biggest difference came when reading text.

I downloaded aldiko on both phones, and had a side by side comparison. The skyrocket was beautiful to look at. The text didnt look pixelated at all, in fact it looked just as sharp as the vivid, which is a higher res.

The vivid res was impressive, but thats pretty much it. At first sight, i thought the phone was the LG thrill, because for a second the screen looked like that shitty 3d screen on the thrill. Upon further inspection, i realized this was just a normal lcd screen, and im so used to looking at the deep blacks that AMOLED offers, that the screen looked like crap to me.

From checking these phones out, i would have to say that either having a rgb 480x800 display, or a pentile 720 screen will probably produce similar results.

I would assume that the display on the nexus wont be THAT much better than the sgs2 screen, but i guess well have to wait and see. This at least makes me consider the sgs2 or skyrocket if the price for an unsubsidized nexus is ridiculous.
