I mostly play games like CIV and Total War on my PC but used to love CS so who knows right?

i haven’t built a rig in a decade and think I’m gonna end up with a 2080super as the GPU

I have been back and forth between 27,32, curved, flat etc....

Most blogs seems to indicate a 27in QHD IPS monitor is the way to go. I initially thought a 32in for immersion etc but the internet doesn’t agree ( I know, be your own man, just don’t wanna drop decent coin and find out google was right)

thing is I saw a picture of a guy in front of a 34 in ultra wide (most games handle that aspect ratio?) and he looked pretty happy and it didn’t look too big or TV like...

Id like to keep the budget around 500, any musings, recommendations/ sweet Black Friday links appreciated.

I have the Acer Predator 27” 1440P, 144Hz, IPS monitor.

I really like it. Good resolution for its size, good FPS using a 2080 and 2700X CPU, immersive enough for me without having excessive screen real estate requiring lots of eye, head, and mouse movements to cover the space.

I’ve been very happy with it and would recommend it. I think I will get a couple for work for CAD purposes. I’ve tried 32” 4K for that, and the text is too small for me.

Looks like the similar ASUS version is on sale for $450 from amazon. It's the PG279QZ.

Waiting on amazon to deliver a couple of these boyos for work:

Will report back to you asap on how they go. But since I haven't got a "order shipped" yet, that could be a while.

I have a 40" flat 4k - and tbh - its too big (for working on an office table). At the extremeties, viewing angles is off by enough that I really don't like working with stuff in the corners/sides. So I end up swaying my torso side to side to try and keep my head normal to what I'm looking at - not good!

I think a 34-36" curved would be the ideal solution, but prepared to try a 32" curved - my eyes can handle small text, but that may not suit others.

So the U32R59Cs have arrived and been set up.

Almost perfect I have to say. Maybe if the screens were 34" instead of 32" then the text size would be more comfortable for most. But for me, this works extremely well.

100% scaling, all areas of screens are perfectly aligned with user and loads of space for coding/CAD/CAE.

They were very bright at initial setting, but thats easily adjusted down. Clean clear concise 4k pictures and makes working quite enjoyable as opposed to a slog.

[Much better than the 40" 4k I have at home and leagues better than the 27" 1080s that sit either side of that 40".]
