I recently built a new pc for myself and went from a Radeon 9800 non pro to a Geforce 6800GS and noticed that the resolutions available for the 2005fpw are not the same.

Using the latest forceware drivers all I see are the preset resolutions but when I had the 9800 I had other resolutions such as 1280x720, 1280x768, 1360x768 and 1440x900..etc. None of those are available for me at the moment.

I notice that I can make custom resolutions via the nvidia control panel so I guess I can just create those resolutions right? Should they all be 60Hz??? Are there any other custom widescreen resolutions I can create safely with the 2005fpw? Sorry if this seems noobish and thanks in advance for any help.

Dell's monitors will usually run just about any resolution you can throw at them up to native, so feel free to play around with custom ones. Use 60Hz for any resolution on most LCD monitors.

You'd usually want to stick with 16:9 or 16:10 resolutions on a widescreen display. Although I'm not sure why you would really want to run the desktop at anything but 1680x1050, as it won't look as sharp.
