my system configuration is:

AMD phenom II X6 1090T
Gigabyte Ga-890fxa-ud5 rev 2.1
gigabyte GTX460 OC 1 GB graphics card rev 1.0
Corsair HX750 ps
G sKill Ripjaws DDR3 1600 CL7 2X2GB ram
Graphics Driver nvidia 260.99
Windows 7 64-Bit with all updates
and a very old but still working and fine Samsung SyncMaster 753DFX CRT monitor running in 1152X864 Resolution

my problem is for the last few days the screen resolution suddenly drop to 1024*768 with only three resolution option in the settings (800*600, 1024*768, 1280*1024).

In regular setting, I have 5 resolution options where 1024*768 is the recommended one, but i use the 1152*864 one.

the resolution change occur while the monitor is in sleep mode, not the system. maybe I put the system on downloading some contents, or assigned any particular jobs, and in power setting, the system is set to never sleep and monitor to sleep/power down after 2 minutes.

I don't know why this resolution problem is happening but it never happened for the last 2 months, just last few days I am having this problem.

Any solution, or idea why it is happening?

I am not an expert on that, and the following is just a guess.
Cable problem.
