Screen Resolution changes to HUGE. Help

I have a 6800GT, and from time to time, if I open Windows media player 10, or Firefox in windows xp, my screen's resolution will switch from the 1280, to something HUGE, where I have to alt-cntrl-delete, and shut down firefox to get it to come back to it's regular resolution.

Any idea why it does this??

Is the resolution going low or too high. Firefox doing it too, wierd?

too low. once it happens, it stays like that. I either have to close things down or reboot to get it back to normal.

Shot in the dark, could this be a memory issue?

seems to be more prone to happening with loading java
