Screen resized down, but not up without reboot - oddest problem ever.

So yeah, the topic is pretty self explanatory.

I guess this has been happenning ever since I installed ROSE - some acronym for a free mmorpg which I shouldn't be playing sincei t's finals time anyways.

The equipment is AMD 2500 OC'd to 10x200, Connect 3D 9600xt at stock rates. I've tried things with the ATI drivers from the flat x.10, x.11, to x.12 from the ati site.

The symptoms include functionality with dxdiag for versions 7 and 8, with a failure for dx 9 when performing the direct3d tests, resulting in error code "0x8876086c" which I have googled, and yet no one seems to be fitting my criteria with regards for prep to failure.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

Additional specs include a Samsung 712N which worked fine before the problem.. I've since grabbed the drivers from Samsung, but all they appear to do is rename the device; no change.

Mobo is an Asus A7v880, or the closest match to that set of characters. Umm.. Geil 2x512 2-6-2-2... A freshly added SATA 300Gb Seagate with the $50 rebate... umm... Anyone out there?
