screen goes on standby after loading screen.

Hi everyone.

Up until a few hrs ago my computer would just restart after the loading screen of winxp and wudn't run even in safe mode. So I did a new install of xp which went on fine. But now my monitor goes into standby mode right after the loading screen. But it works fine in safe mode. Please help.
 
It's a p4 1.6ghz machine with a rage3d pro and 128 megs of ram. I think it's the same old prob of monitor not supporting the resolution to be displayed but doesn't changing the res in safe mode carry over to the normal mode on restart? Caues doing that doesn seem to help.
 
Yep that did the trick! Thanks a ton. What could the problem have been exactly? And what drivers are the system running off of now?
