Screen goes black after windows bootup

For a while I had noticed that there was a delay after the windows boot blue screen before the beautiful cowfield (less cows) appeared, and during this delay the screen went black. Now it just stays black. Video card? Monitor is fine. RAM? CPU? I went to the fail safe configuration. I can get into Windows Safe Mode but afterwards I'm back to the same problem. Thanks in advance for your help!

While in Safe Mode, why not uninstall your current video drivers. Then, reboot to regular mode. Should come up in VGA mode at that point. Download new drivers for the card and install/reboot.

You should be able to uninstall the video drivers via Add/Remove programs.
