Screen Flickering

Screen completely went blank on its own while laptop(Samsung NP550p5c-S02in) was in use. Checked display to external monitor via VGA and HDMI, it was working fine. Games, movies and normal work, everything was working absolutely fine on external monitor.

Later got the screen and screen-to-motherboard cable replaced by Samsung service center, but they claim following problem is not due to screen but due to faulty connector on motherboard. Tried two new screens, both showing same issue.

Youtube video of the problem : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TWZnCnP3d0

Still everything working fine over external monitor. So just wanted to understand, where exactly could be the problem? Is claim by samsung correct that connector is at fault? Is that connector repairable? Or changing the motherboard the only solution.

That's hard to say without us testing it, but that cable is bent a lot, which is why that's usually assumed to be the problem. If the cable was designed too short, I guess it could be tugging at the connector.

Does Samsung allow access to the service manual like Dell does? If so you could check to see if the backside of a pin is not making contact and needs a little solder.

Found the service manuals online but all were paid. Moreover I doubt if those manuals would be able to help a non-techie person.

Anyways, have submitted with a local laptop repairing guy, lets see if he is able to resolve.

By the way, that flickering occurs only after windows is loaded, ie, from login screen. And local guy, claims problem in graphics card. But external monitor works fine with regular display with Intel Graphics and games with Nvidia.

So what exactly could be at fault? Different claims by different people!
