Screen Distortion Driver Related?

I recently installed a Matrox G550 in my daughter's computer (Abit BX board running a P3 700 slot at 1 GHz), 256 MB of PC133 RAM). It was fine for a few weeeks but now there are intermittent blurs or shadows around icons, the start key, pop-up boxes, etc. Very sporadic too. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers, played with the refresh rate (Samsung 17" Trinitron) and resolution but it always comes back.

I plan on changing out the card and/or swapping monitors tonight. Anybody have any ideas what it might be?

Thanks.

Does this happen at all resolutions? How about in safe mode?

I ran into a similiar type of problem with one of the users in the company that I work for, and what I did is to reconnect the video cable from the computer to the monitor. Also make sure that if there is a connector on the back of the monitor, make sure that the connection is secure and nothing is loose. If your monitor has a "DeGauss" button , then you may want to "degauss" your monitor.

I've degaussed it several times. The cable is tight (it is not the type that is permanently attached at the monitor end) at both ends. It appears at all resolutions. I will check safe mode too.

Thanks.
