I write video game reviews and walkthroughs, but so far I have just been using text. I'm looking into getting set up to record gaming videos, but I haven't decided what kind of equipment to get yet, and I need your help!
I have a MacBook Pro, a PS3 and an Xbox 360. I also have a Linux desktop, but due to copyright fears it has trouble getting HD, so I think I'll have to leave it out of the equation.
I've read reviews of the Hauppage HD PVR, but this device seems to be limited to composite cables. Also, for use on a Mac it seems to require the purchase of additional software, so that's not very appealing.
I've also read reviews of a similar product by Elgato: the Elgato Game Capture HD. This seems to have everything I need -- HDMI passthrough and functionality with a Mac. But there are a handful of negative customer reviews on Amazon.
Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance for your help.
