Hello.

I recently bought one of the new Dell 530 inspiron deals. I upgraded the power supply with an OCZ 700 watt model I had from my previous rig. The model is an OXZGXS700.

The card i just bought is the EVGA GTX superclocked model that was $225.

My PSU has 2 6 pin connectors, so I used both of those.

The card works fine in 2d. Every time I load up a 3d application, however, it emits a horrendous screeching noise.

I called EVGA; they said it might be a power supply issue, but my PSU is well beyond spec for a single GTX 260. I was previously running an x1900xt with no issues.

The card also works perfectly well, other than the noise. I'm currently testing out the bioshock demo. In fact, it works fine beyond stock clocks with temps around 67 C.

The noise is definitely coming from the card, not the PSU.

What do you think?

I set the fan at 50%, but it is not the fan. The fan makes a completely different noise even if I set it at 100%.

Its either the caps on your card or PSU. It was pretty common with the G80 GTX as well. Try removing your case door, repeat whatever app was making the sound and see if you can isolate the source of the sound.

The sound is 100% coming from the graphics card.

If its audible to the point it bothers you I'd RMA it. I get a high pitched hum when FPS hit 2-3k on splash/loading screens but nothing audible during normal gameplay.

The same thing happens to my 8800 GT and a lot of 8800 owners have reported this problem long time ago. It seems to be a coil or something from the card, that when it is powered it emits this screeching noise. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
