Hello all. Here a nagging problem that I can't seem to come up with a solution for, and I thought this might be a good place to post. Here goes: I just upgraded my system with a new Epox 8KHA+ MB, DDR, and a new case. Anyhow, I format my HD just because I like a clean start after an upgrade, I re-install Win98SE, load the 4-in-1 divers that came on the CD, the latest Nvidia drivers, and various other drivers to get my system up and running. I also verify I have the latest BIOS.

I install 3d-mark2001, run it, get great scores (compared to my old MB) and everything is jolly.

Next I fire up UT GOTY, and wham, I hit a wall. The game is playable, but barely. First of all (and most annoying) is the very slow-to-respond mouse. It's like typing with mittens on. On top of that the game runs at a terribly slow pace.

I re-install all of the aforementioned drivers, uninstall and re-up the game, and wham! same prob. I download the new 4-in-1's (4.35 I think), to no avail.

I install NHL 2002. It's playable, but the video in the beginning is choppy. Don't know yet if this is related, but I felt was worth mentioning.

I could use some advice if anyone has any, because I'm left here scratching my head. I'm not sure where to go next.

EPoX 8KHA+
Athlon 1.1Ghz @ 100sb
GeForce 2 GTS
300w Enermax PS
PS/2 Mouse
256mb Crucial PC2100 DDR

Thanks for your help.

Hey everyone...giving myself a bump and also please check out the FS/FT forum and in particular the "Christmas Spirit..." thread. That's one of the coolest things I've seen online yet.

Thanks guys.

I'll give a few of those things a try on my lunch break. I have a strong feeling that I need to install OLDER 4-in-one drivers though. I've had this card for over a year, and this has never been a problem before. The MB is the only thing that has changed. I'll let you guys know how this works out. Thanks for the help so far.

Well, I tried the new 4.36 4-in-1's, disbaled v-sync, looked for a mouse/exception in the registry, and still no luck.

Anyone have any good ideas? More specifically maybe a ver of VIA's 4-in-1 or Nvidia's DetXP drivers that are older that may fix my problem. I mean, the only thing that's changed from before is the Mobo and the drivers.

Thanks in advance. :(

I have Directx 8 installed, as far as mouse drivers go, I'e allways let windows98 do the trick when I install. I've tried the directinput option, an it really makes no difference at all. I can't firgure it out. Thanks for the help so far guys.

Found and eliminated the problem. For some reason, the 21.83 set of detonator drivers work better with my system than do the new ones. Everything is running great. Thanks everyone.
