I've just bought a new heatsink (mail delivered it). But on the bottom-side. There aresome scratches, they're not very deep, and NOTin the middle (where the termal tape is, and where the cpu connects to the heatsink).
So does it matter ?
Anyway the cooler is a taisol (for 1,2 GHz CPUs). And the heatsink is larger then the fan, so i was thinking if it's not too large for my mobo (ASUS A7V133) ??

Thanks in advance :)

also, if you apply some compound stuff like artic silver II then it should fill those scratches and any little holes.

If you're just using the thermal pad that came with it, i don't think it should be a problem. If you're gonna scrape that off, I'd use Arctic Silver or some other thermal compound to fill in any microscopic scratches and dings that occur.
