Scratches on my fish tank!

Bought it about a month ago and I used it once until my goldfishes died. I'm ready to buy some more and I noticed some major scratches near the bottom of this tank (2.5 gallon) when I went to clean it!
Will it crack?! I dont wanna come home to find water and my fishes on the floor.

I placed water in it and it's running fine as I sit here. But i dont know if I wanna risk it.

Uh, it's a 2.5 gallon tank. the plastic that they make milk cartons out of would hold that amount of water. I think some scratched glass will be fine.

make sure you put 5lbs of gravel on the bottom to protect it from being scratched even further.

correction.... make it 10lbs just to be on the safe side.

I can't tell if this is a parody or not, but scratches will not lead to cracks, if it holds water now, it will continue to do so. BTW Goldfish are for feeding other fish like Oscars, and on rare occassion Lionfish.

Some of it looks like little scratches, but I ran my finger over a couple of them (located along the bottom front), and I can feel it bulging out. Not much, but I can feel it as I go from one end to another.

I plan to have goldfishes in this tank and in my 20 gallon, I'll buy some Oscars and those African whachamacallit.

you must be a fish noob or just insane to want to put an oscar in a 20 gallon. the minimum size for a full grown adult oscar is 55 gallong. that is for ONE oscar. adult oscars can grow up to 14", but most are in the 10-12" size.

buddy of mine has a couple of oscars in his 30 gallon tank. He's had it for about 2 years now.

Yes I am a noob and I realize they can grow pretty big if you fit them in the right tank. I dont have room for anything that big, so if mine doesnt grow to 14", so be it.

What other fishes should I consider?

I wouldn't attempt to stunt their growth by keeping them in a 20 gallon. Oscar's should either be the only fish in the tank or housed with similar sized aggressive fish. If you're thinking of keeping african cichlids, then start with kribensis. They're a dwarf african cichlid with some nice colors.
