Scratch resistant CD's?

Someone today was telling me that some company is makign CDR media with a scratch resistant coating. Is this for real or some marketing guy jerking our chain?

Haven't heard of such, but when I burn a coaster, I usually scratch the top surface with a key so no one else can read it, and the Sony's Ive been using lately are a bitch to scratch down to plastic.

A pioneer in CD technology, Verbatim's new DataLife Plus 12X CD-R is yet another example of the roll it plays in early product development and commercial product introduction of new technologies. Verbatim was first to introduce silver reflective layer CD-R for improved reflectivity and maximum read/write performance. First to employ hard coat scratch resistant CD-R surface optimized for thermal and inkjet printing. And first to use a specialized dye to ensure data reliability and long archival life.
