Wow i have just read thru this entire thread...very very nice. I think the computer desk you use is just as important as any other computer piece. I mean you need to be comfortable right? sick desk man cant wait to see more.

i'm running a DCM fan filter on top of my 800D because my rad fans are pulling air in. The filter is great, keeps the rad and fans clean.

Just finished reading this thread, nothing short of breathtaking! You do beautiful work, the time and effort you put in really shows!

Almost makes me wanna do something like this, too bad dorm rooms are slightly space-constrained..

Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing the finished product! 🙂

I like what you did I thought of doing somthing like this a long time ago.

One thing that crossd my mind is I wonder if I could find a blower moter that they use on home heating and AC unit. would have to find a low rpm one use one of those 3" thick filters and would have exclent air flow.

Filter would be on the bottom were you couldn't see it, and easy to replace.

Don't think there would be a need for water cooling then othere than looks.

Hello everyone, don't know if this thread is still being seen by anyone, but I just wanted to say thanks to the OP! Really great design, in fact, such a great design that I built something similar to it, only much smaller (I don't have room for a desk much bigger than about 6' on the big end). I'm curious to know how much this project cost you in total, for mine, I used two sheets (4'x8') of 1/2in thick Red Oak plywood (yes I know, not super heavy stuff, should have spent the extra dollar for another quarter of an inch) but I was trying to keep weight down, as I will have to transport it through two flights of stairs, and into a vehicle, and up another flight of stairs. I am also curios to know what you used to cover the raw edges of the plywood, I am looking at getting some very simple (and rather basic looking) Mahogany mull casing (3/16x 2). Would this be good enough? In case you are wondering so far this project has cost me a total of $125.00 (I still need to buy some shellac, and waxing compound, oh, and the mull casing or something to cover the edges) the dimensions of this desk are 51 wide, 24 deep, 30 tall and the shelf stands 7 inches taller than the surface. So, 37.
