Previous owner left aluminum awnings and some kind of boxed aluminum platform (don't know what it could have been for possibly roofing or doing screen enclosures).
Local trash would charge a special pickup for it of $50. Not a bad deal, but a neighbor said take it to the scrap yard (about 10 mins from where I was this weekend).
So I loaded it up and took it down.
First thing I was surprised how many people were there. One guy had a 6000lb load, I don't know exactly what mix of metals but he had like a 1" stack of $100's (they pay out in cash).
Now they do require ID for anything, but cans yet I can't help but wonder if some of this stuff was taken from houses that were scheduled to be knocked down and the like.
Things I have thrown away that are worth a decent amount: copper, cat convertors ($20-30 they will pay), and of course aluminum in the past.
Now cans probably won't pay off (depending on can about 24-30 are worth 50 cents @ 1 pound).
It ended up I had 193lbs of stuff and walked away with $96.50 for basically a 10 min drive.
