Just got my soyo 6BA+IV 1ghz pentium III setup to 1163 (155) at cas2 (getting 540/600 mem scores with Sandra). It seems super fast and stable, but I feel like I'm at the end of the road. Would it be worth swapping mobo and cpu out for a KT133A setup? Would it cost me? I'm Running win2K. Thanks for the toughts!

Hell no dude you are at 155 fsb same as me 1163 mhz. If it is stable no need to upgrade your mobo. 155 fsb is a good setup for the P3 you wont get much better performance at 160 fsb if you can get there with a diff mobo. I have had mine at 160 fsb and the difference wasnt much better. If you got it to 165 fsb you would have to lower your CAS settings to 333 so you lose on that end. Stay at the settings your at it will run all day and all night. I should know been doing it since i overclocked mine.

I got similar feelings a few weeks ago and I made the switch to a 1.1 Athlon running at 1.4GHZ.. the speed is VERY impressive and I dont regret the switch at all. For the money its very good.

I just exchanged an ASUS CUBX for an EPoX 8KTA3, and I'll never go back.

Benefits:
1. AGPx4
2. Multiplier AND fsb control (for maxing fsb)
3. Support for ATA/100 (least important)
4. Memory interleaving
5. AGP 1/2 divider
6. AMD Thunderbird!

That being said, the BX has great memory performance and stability, so unless you really want to keep on the OC edge, keep what you've got. If you want to seriously OC, you need to move on.

Yep, got a voodoo 3 in their now. I have a g400 that'll tolerate 100 agp bus (means I have to run at 1125mhz)

I wouldn't, unless you want the latest and greatest (which changes bi-monthly), but I would get a different vid card. :)

I am on an Abit VH6II mobo Via Apollo Pro 133a chipset. Like i said pushing that P3 any farther isnt going to make that much performance difference, i have tried it. Now if you get it to 170 on a different mobo maybe, but as for 160 and 165 fsb not a real big improvement.

If you are thinking to swap ur MOBO n cpu for a KT133A, wait a little bit more, soon other DDR mobos will be out for the Athlon4, the prices might drop down a little bit more. And you can check also if its worth keeping the SDR memory or go for DDR memory, since the DDR memory is dropping too.

I have the FSB on my Iwill KK266-R @ 165 now with 512mb of Crucial Cas2 ram @ Cas3, 4-way, fastest settings and my memory score is 675/750....I guess Cas3 isn't so bad...;)

Thanks for the advice Raf, I think I'll hold on for a bit until we see palamino. Like you suggest, prices should come down then.
