'Scourge of War' games...anybody play?

So I'm guessing probably not considering how niche of a title these games are, and a search reveals only one thread from several years back, but I was hoping with its addition to STEAM recently there might be a better chance for more people to try them out.
I got Waterloo during the STEAM sale and I've enjoyed it so far more than Gettysburg and Antietam, but I still feel a little distrustful of the AI making good decisions.

I've loved these kind of strategy games since the DOS days, and while I'm starting to figure them out, there's so little online about them, either Youtube Let's Plays or tutorials, I feel like I'm missing out on some key gameplay elements.

So anybody have any experience with these games at all want to weigh in?
