I was never the hugest STP fan, but it's always sad when someone that had a lot going for them has issues with substance abuse. I'm not sure if that's what caused his death, but it prob didn't help.

Sad to hear :(

I did like some Velvet Revolver but other than that was never a big fan of his for some reason.

RIP

I still remember this crazy purple haired dude come flying onto the stage with boundless amounts of energy. I didn't know it at the time, but it was Scott & STP opening up for Megadeth a long, long time ago.

Jesus shitballs I like how I was listening to dead and bloating remembering him without even realizing his dead and bloated body is probably less than 25 miles from me. And I was actually wanting to play that song some more.

Sad. It seems he was on borrowed time.

I've seen them a few times and his vocals amazed me each time.
I assumed he would have had a washed up ragged voice after all those years, but he was perfect each time.

He made it to 48 that's not so bad all things considered

One of the greatest rock voices of all time, voice that cut like an electric guitar

Saw him a 5-6 years ago when he was with STP, still a great singer then. Sad he couldn't get his head fixed.

Wasn't he bipolar but didn't take meds for it?

Anyways, RIP. I'd say any of us who grew up in the 90s probably listened to plenty of STP.

A great front man and a great rock voice. Sad and such a shame. RIP. (Why does this stuff hit us like it does. I didn't know him, but damn.)

Was just listening to some older STP last week - that man had some demons that never gave up their fight to finish him off. I think that essentially is what allows them to come up with such haunting lyrics to their songs. What ultimately makes them successful kills them eventually.

TBH, no STP/VR fan would be surprised to read the thread title.

Part of me knew this would happen at some point, he just never seemed to be able to get right. When the DiLeos kicked him out of the band I remember thinking it might not be long.

RIP Scott, thank you for enriching my early years with your music. You will be missed but not forgotten. :(

I remember getting STPs first CD - Core and play the crap out of it, such a good CD.

Sad. Dude was a dick and an addict, but his voice was great. Plush is still one of my favorite songs, and Wicked Garden and Vasoline right along with it.

Was he taken back into Stone Temple Pilots? I have five or six of their albums but don't really follow them.

STP made some amazing music. It's sad, but not unexpected. And frankly I'm surprised it took this long. That dude abused his body.
