Scotch in a...can?

Hell next thing you know they'll introduce a small portable metal container with a screw on cap for discretely transporting any liquor of your choice.

My wife came home from the grocery store last month with a 4 pack of JD & Coke in "bottles". Interestingly when I popped the cap the "bottle" turned out to be aluminum so I guess technically it was JD and Coke in a can.

Isn't this what flasks are for?

Seriously... Scotch in a can...

Cans destroy beer... who knows they'll do to scotch.

My objection isn't so much the material of the container as it is about the practicality of the container. Jack and Coke in a bottle is 1 drink per bottle while scotch in a can is 8 drinks per can. On top of that madness, you can't put the cap back on a can when you don't finish the contents. Pop the top and you are drinking 8 shots, putting the leftovers into another container for later, or discarding whatever isn't consumed.

They claim it's too inconvenient to bring a bottle of scotch on a boat or to a party?
Well yeah. How often have you brought a bottle of scotch to a party only to have some freeloader insist that you give him a taste? Does that happen when you're holding a can? Of course not! Bring along a couple cans of scotch and the freeloaders will be high and dry.
