Highland Park 12, if you really want to impress him buck up and pay for the 18.
I would go and choose Oban. Its a good single malt for starting out. Scratch that, the 14 now sells in the 70 dollar range.
I like The Macallan. 12yr can be had for ~40, 18 for ~80-100
What's a good "starter" whiskey? I'm thinking of taking up drinking it as a hobby since I'm not spending enough on Child's Play this year.
