4870x2. 4gigs800. phII940 3.45oc gpu is algo a bit oc.. gets unstable in some games...

Seems like your score is good.

Anyhow, if you are having instability in games back down your OC's until you are stable. What OS are you running? Have you updated your drivers? Uninstalled your old drivers? Run driver sweeper?

Additionally, what do you mean unstable? Are you getting artifacts? Windows error messages? etc.

Wierd...im ~ 21K on my bench runs. Then again I have a Wolfie with a 10X multi, so you can bet it was higher than 4.3.

running vista 32... and some games simple stop the computer working to the point of no way to get it to respond.. reset bottom.. is welcome here...

others crash to desktop..

got 9.3 cat...

and so on.. by the way this new cat seems to boost the performance...

Mine - in sig; q9550s@4.0Ghz -all 3 GPUs at stock clocks - scores 23,334 in 3DMark06
- ZERO instability although my CPU voltage is at Intel's max recommended when i run 3 hot GPUS

i "only" get 22166 with a single 4870-X2 [stock clocks] with the same PC

Vantage is 18361 with CFX-3 and only 15219 with a single X-2; so there is more performance difference than 3DMark06 shows with the additional 48700 over a single X-2

Upgrade .. then maybe you will be satisfied

But frankly, you'd do better dumping the p35 MB and upgrading to i7/x58 if you are gonna do something that drastic; you will need 16x+16x PCIe for multi-GPU Adding a 2nd GPU [or a third] is usually the best way to increase gaming performance if you are dissatisfied with your "score"


You need to remember, along with increasing your 3DMark score - as an added mini-bonus [besides the ALL-IMPORTANT bragging rights] it will significantly improve your game playing experience

When the games stop working, are they the only certain games? Have you tried reinstalling the games? If you are running Vista, when it locks up try hitting ctrl-alt-del and brining up task manager to see if it's only the games that's stopped responding or if its windows explorer.

I think you may have an instability in your OC most likely on the CPU. Have you run stability tests? Prime 95, orthos etc. ?

yeah, especially since I'm still gaming on my 19" monitor. It is WIDESCREEN, you know, so I need at least 2 gpus to make it run smoothly.

i even drop my resolution down to 16x10 when i play Clear Sky in DX10.1 at ultra detail .. and mess with the shader/shadow settings a little bit
- i just can't give up 4xAA, 16xAF
... Do you think TRi-SLi would manage Clear Sky at 19x12? CFX-3 lacks

maybe i should upgrade from 4870 CrossFireX-3 also - i'd need a fast i7 of course as my 4.0Ghz Q9550s would then be too slo; But then we would be looking at 25000 for '06 and 22,000 for Vantage; maybe 30000 if i OCd the crap outta everything
