Score! I got a christmas present early

My wife gave me one of my christmas gifts early. I got this:

Olympus D-580 zoom

This new camera replaces this one:

Polaroid PDC 700

I can't wait to start using this bad boy. I'll be needing a new memory card though, it only came with a 16MB card, I want at least 128MB... What do you all think about this camera? I know there are quite a few photo buffs out there.

I got her a Casio keyboard that has all kinds of PC connectivity and an instructional mode. She wants to brush up and also to teach our daughter to play. Of course I had to buy an ac adapter, stand, etc. It's a pretty nice setup. There is also alot of clothes and some household items she wanted.

And the Christmas sex of course. 🙂

I remember Krull from when it first came out. 😎 I think I know what some of my other gifts are, too, but I won't venture guesses. It'll hurt her feelings if I'm right.

You only get sex at Christmas? Bummer, dude! 😉
😀
I'm not crazy about Casio keyboards, but I'm a Yamaha fanboi, so my opinion doesn't mean all that much. If it sounds good and has the right features at the right price, it's all good.

Well, actually, my wife has had a hysterectomy so sex IS kind of rare these days. Holidays and birthdays are a given, though. So I look forward to them for that reason among others.

Regarding the keyboard, I would have liked to gotten a better one but:

1. She asked for that specific model due to the instructional mode. The other features are a bonus.
2. $$$ Yamaha and Korg and the other high end boards are just outright expensive, even if justifiably so.

She'll be really pleased. She asked for it in July, she'll be amazed that I remembered...

Oi, sorry 🙁
We got a Yamaha with an instructional mode. Never used it, of course. About $300 or so.

Ahh, don't worry about it. The first year was rough but I've now had 3.5 years to get used to it and am now fine with it. My own "interest" has scaled down a lot to match hers (thank god). There were some frustrating times back in the day.

Zim, thanks for the link. I'll definitely be getting a bigger card knowing that they are so inexpensive.

I didn't realize Olympus used xD cards as well, they seem to be pretty good as far as battery life/write speed goes. That's what my Fuji used.

I had the same feeling w/ SD cards. Make sure you get a card reader to save on the wear and tear on your camera Megatomic 🙂

Is it better to get a reader than to get an ac adapter for the camera and just the usb cable? I have front usb ports on my Sonata I can hook up to.

Of course, this may be just excuse I was looking for to get one of those multi card readers. 🙂

i would get a usb 2.0 reader. i think most digital cameras transfer at usb 1.1 speeds. may not seem like much for a few pics, but transferring 100+mb of pics takes forever on 1.1
