Ouch! This is why they have instrument and towel counts - this will lead to a generous settlement, I bet, because that x-ray is incredibly powerful plaintiff's evidence.

Actually, one of the cases that created the clear precedent that military members generally can't sue the government for injury or death that occurs while they are on active duty (aka the Feres doctrine) involved a guy who underwent abdominal surgery, then had constant pain and infections. When they opened him back up, months later, they found an 18x30" towel marked "Property of the U.S. Army"!

?We have put this down to human error. I?ve been executive director here for four years, and in that time we?ve done something like 40,000 operations and this is the first time this incident has occurred.?

lol... that's as good as saying "... and this is the first time THIS incident has occured... of course there were the scalpels... cotton swabs... forceps... ah jeez am I still talking out loud?!"

sometimes the best thing to do is close someone up as fast as possible, and fix any mistakes later.

Unfortunately, these things are all too common.

Doctors left a rag inside my boss's back after a hernia operation. He almost died after a week and has heart problems now bc of it.

how the fvck could you leave ANYTHING inside a body? man surgeons must be starting to suck. that is such a careless mistake. the b!tch shouldnt be suing though, unless they find out that it happened on purpose...which i sincerely doubt.

How is she a bitch, and why shouldn't she be suing? WTH is wrong with people nowadays? Not EVERY personal injury lawsuit is unjustified, and one in which a medical facility causes a person significant pain and suffering due to obvious, easily-preventable malpractice is anything but.
