SciFi Summer- It's Back-New epi's.

techs

Lifer
Here come the summer sci-fi shows:

Warehouse 13 July 7th SciFi (or Skiffy)
Eureka July 10th SciFi
Torchwood: Children of Men July BBCA
Doctor Who: The Next Doctor June 27th BBCA
Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead July BBCA
Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars (date unknown) BBCA
Primeval Season 3 currently airing BBCA

Have I missed anything?

Oh yeah, they have confirmed an Alien re-boot. A prequel to hit the theatres in 2011.

Only one I haven't seen is Warehouse 13.
Doctor Who I am looking forward to, Eureka is a good fun series, Primeval I need to catch up on. I have mixed emotions to Torchwood. Seems like an eternity since the last episode I saw.

Warehouse 13 sound similar in premise to The Lost Room or X-Files.

Torchwood
This going to still be about Torchwood Three?

Good to see The Doctor back, shame they lost David Tennant, he was a good doctor🙁

Eureka was OK, I do not think that it worth renewing for yet another season.

I watched the first three or so episodes of season 1 of the Primeval serial, did it improve? I was not impressed at all from the ones that I did see.

The summary of Warehouse 13 sounds a bit like The Lost Room, I will have to check it out.

Hopefully they killed Sanctuary.

David Tennant was awesome as the Doctor. He played the charisma, eccentricity, and daring of the Doctor perfectly.

It's been a while since I saw Primeval, but I think it improved past the initial episodes. If I recall correctly, I didn't like it that much near the end of Series 2 and stopped watching it until now. Going to give it another shot.

I gave Sanctuary a chance, even saw the whole season, but I don't think I'm going to watch it anymore. Bad writing with cheesy plots.

I think David Tennant will be in all three Dr. Who's. I'm sure he's at least in the first.
And as to Primeval, the first 3 epi's were just monster of the week. A lot like Dollhouse started with what hot thing will Dushku be this week. After that, and especially starting with the epi that just aired, number 7 I believe, it gets arc heavy with a real storyline. Completely different show than the first few.
And Warehouse 13 is going to depend, I think, entirely on how well the two leads interact. I'm thinking more X-Files than anything else. The female lead looks kind of cute:

Eureka is the only one I care about and never even heard of Torchwood and by how it sounds like Doctor Who I doubt I will even bother.

Might see a episode or two of Warehouse 13 but this type of show has been done enough that I don't see it going anywhere.

fuck I miss The 4400

It had some dry spells, but was a good series.

I really miss Threshold, the end of the first season (and the series) was abrupt.

Wolf Lake had the makings of a very good series, but it died after the first few episodes, even more abruptly.

Carnivale needed a final third season to finish it up, but it died with a cliff hanger at the end of season 2. Probably in my top 5.

I watched the entire first season as well, it would be nice if I had not...

Doctor Who is one of my favorite serials. Torchwood is not nearly as good as Doctor Who, but it does give you something to do while waiting for the next episode of Doctor Who. Did you dislike the old or new Doctor Whos?

Thanks, I might give it another chance if it appears on NetFlix instant view, Hulu or BBCA's website (if it is not there already).

I am actually in the process of watching the Babylon 5 pilot and a episode or two to see how it goes.

I have been meaning to doing this for awhile now since I missed the show when it aired and really never got around to checking it out but with nothing on these days it will give me the time to see if it was a mistake or not even though I hear a lot of good things about it.

Woohoo. Can't wait 'til Eureka comes back. The Sanctuary was ok as a filler. Nothing much to watch anymore on SciFi. I miss the 4400. Is there any chance they could ever bring that back and finish it?

Don't remember the old version but the new one I didn't care for and never got into.

Sorry, but this is fail. The new one rocks and I've never heard of anyone not liking it. You're obviously deranged.

So deranged that you are next on my list... 😉

See the cartoon panels posted 3 or 4 posts down; they reflect how I feel about Tennant perfectly http://forums.somethingawful.c...d=3081502&pagenumber=1

That's actually quite funny.

After how Torchwood Season 2 ended, I'm worried about this mini-series and beyond. They're down 2 characters, and I get the impression that there won't be another season after the miniseries in spite of how good S2 ended up being. So hopefully the miniseries will make good use of the time.

As for what's on Skiffy, the ads for Warehouse 13 aren't selling me. This strikes me as something that's going to be yet another soulless one-season X-Files-lite supernatural abomination. Meanwhile Eureka really went down the tubes in the first part of season 3 (I mean really, could you make the product placement any worse?) and it's become stuck in a "disaster of the day" rut. I'm not sure there's much to look forward to with the second part of season 3 (just call it season 4 for Christ's sake) if it continues like that.

That was part of the show to purposely do that.

The only thing worse than product placement in TV shows is aggressive marketing as part of the plot. I remember there being an episode in The Loop (funny show, too bad no one watched it when it first came out, except me 🙁 )where Stride gum was a sponsor within the show and every other sentence and frame had Stride or the products. That still was better than the retarded Degree placement within Eureka. It would have been better if you just saw the product in Carter's bathroom, or anything with some semblance of subtlety.

?

The first season of Babylon 5 is pretty much standalone epi's. Some are good, some not so good. If you get thru the first season the arc of the show takes over and the series gets better and better. Especially pay atttention to the epi Babylon Squared from the first season. It will tie into the great War without End two parter in season 3.

So far I have watched the pilot and the first 6 episodes and it looks like something fun to spend some time on, especially on the road trip down to Florida in a bit over a week so I will have to download a season or two for that.
