IMHO it's a lot less crazy than being a Christian. I don't care whether you fairly tales are Xenu and bombs or virgin births and talking shrubbery, it's all about the same. Ultimately Scientology is a lot more honest than many mainstream religions, at least they're up front about the money. The others hide their greed and expect the dumbass blind sheep, ummm, I mean the devout followers, to finance out of court settlements and stained glass by collection plates.

The difference is that you can "buy up" in this one, and the books are expensive, and the lawyers go after any copyright "abuses" very agressively.

The Catholic church asks for your money, not demands. If you don't pay, you can still pray.
The bible is free with a night's stay in pretty much any hotel room.

According to the dictionary definition all groups of any kind are a cult. However, if you are talking about the modern interpretation of the word then the second half applies.
