I'm (gasp) old enough to have seen the originals as they came out on TV. I have to admit that seeing them again, they don't quite measure up to my awed and worshipful memory of them. But, back in the day, they were head and shoulders above just about anything else on the tube.
Rod Serling was a manic genius, cranking those puppies out at a truly prodigious rate. I see an old school, no-nonsense office with a manual typewriter strewn with butts in overflowing ashtrays and half finished cups of Joe. I also wouldn't be surprised if there'd been bennies about, writer's little helpers.
Any sacrifice for the art, you know. 'Cause if they were good enough for truckers and GI's in combat, why not avail yourself of all that modern science had to offer?
