All of this talk about Cal-E-forn-E-ya and Obama has led me to wonder whether people think Schwartzenagger would have been a better president than Obama.

I haven't paid much attention to Schwartzenagger and I have no idea how well he is doing as governor (judging him within the context of the California legislature, etc.), but I think it's a fun question, so have at it.

Schwarzenegger was elected to right a sinking ship. He failed. There are growing parallels to California and the rest of the nation. So no, keep that man AWAY from the Presidency.

no
and he doesn't meet the requirements, so no worries about it happening

The Birthers would have a legitimate gripe...but I wonder what differences there would be in that situation. We'll never know.

With California's ridiculous referendum system and obscene supermajority budgeting requirements I am freaking amazed that Arnold has managed to get anything done at all.

While not our best governor, he is most certainly far from the worst.

Willie Brown would have been awesome.

I would rather have someone who has experience running something successfully over a 1/2 term senator/former community organizer.

Schwarzenegger picked too many fights at once and lost- that was his own fault, but then he also was the only one who had the balls to do it. Had his ballot measures all passed back in 2005, CA could be in better shape than today.

After he lost his ballot initiatives he started caving to people's demands and I think it's partially the reason why CA is so screwed.

Lesson learned- what people want/demand isn't always the best thing, but it's up to the legislators to craft quality legislation and it's their job to explain to people in an understandable fashion to gain their support. The legislators deserve to be fired by the pissed off when they try to push a shitty health care bill through.
