schtasks.exe failed to initialize

Hey guys,

I got a new Vista PC a few days ago. I spent most of yesterday installing updated and deleting unwanted bloatware programs via windows control panel.

I also installed some software like OpenOffice, my logitech keyboard software and some other minor things. Now, when shutting down the PC, I get an error saying "schtasks.exe failed to initialze". The error will go away and the PC will shutdown.

It's not affecting anything, really, just more annoying than anything. Any idea how to fix that?

Thanks!
Aaron

Did you turn off or disable any services?

Nope, nothing like that even remotely close. Just the standard uninstall stuff, as far as I'm aware. I tried seaching on this, and it didn't seem to be too common of an error.

Edit your "startup programs" in msconfig to see which one from the removed "bloatware" is still set to run on startup.

Also, rename/delete the program folders of the removed software.

And check if any of those have the task scheduled to run (like the Norton Live Update etc.)
