Schools and tradition!

What school did u go to, and did it have tradition????

If so, how would u define tradition! 😉

What sort of stuff did they make u do???

I went to Emory. They have a long tradition of taking all your money in exchange for a mediocre undergraduate education. It was great.

I went to GA Tech where there's the long-standing tradition of, "Look left, look right, only one of you will still be here in four years." There's that and the hatred for our rivals in Athens, GA.

Hey, at least you guys have a football team. 😛

I go to SUNY Fredonia. The only traditions are Fredfest (music festival on campus where everyone is drunk), and the "Dressed to get Fvcked" Party

There is a few traditions at my school, but the best would probably be something called the Balgown Bash....

People go into the middle of no-where, no electricity or anything and get absoulutly SMASHED!

Quite fun! 🙂

I went to Vanderbilt. One of the Vandy traditions was to dress up for football games. Guys would be dressed up, girls wearing dresses.

GTA's post scares me...
T-2 months till I goto school at Gatech.

You should be scared 🙂

Some 80% of HOPE scholars lose their scholarship after their first year at Tech (meaning their GPA fell below 3.0.) And at least one or two of your friends will leave after their first or second semester because they can't hack it. Tech = no party school! Tech = get down and get busy getting ready for the rest of your life. How many schools have a decent percentage of students who prefer to hit the books on a Friday or Saturday night? Can'e be many.

I highly recommend the co-op program and some of the international opportunities offered by the School of Modern Languages. If you're a Christian, also be sure to check out the GT Christian Campus Fellowship.

Edit: I lost my HOPE scholarship after my first year, but worked hard and got it back. I graduated as a co-op in 4.5 years with a 3.2 (Cum Laude).

Edit: The mean GPA at Tech is more like 2.5 - 2.7 🙂

I'll definately be co-oping in either EE or ISyE. I'm out of state, so no chance of losing a HOPE scholarship. I can both hit the books hard and have my moments of partying, but overall I think i'll do ok. Hell, might be able to skip the calc1 weedout classes if they take the credit from the calc I took in highschool. (Took HS calc junior year, and Carrol (local catholic college, pretty good school) calc my senior year. A's both years)

Took 2 years of chem in HS, 1 year physics, and EE doesn't start CS right away do they? ISyE wouldn't use much either.

EE or IE as we say, you got to take all of those unless you AP out of them. (For example you have to score a 4 on the AP CS exam to get credit for CS 1.)

Edit: You are in charge of your class schedule, though. In the end, you pace yourself. When you go into FASET, don't register for everything they tell you to register for. Plan it out yourself ahead of time. Take Calc 1, Chem 1, an LCC cource (English), and two other easier classes. Try to take no less than 15 hours (5 classes). If you want a tougher time, replace one of those easy classes and add like Physics 1 (or Bio 1).

As your FASET weekend approaches, check out this web page. See if you can log in and register ahead of time (better odds of getting what you want, when you want it).

Ya, i'm not saying i'll skip chem/physics but that I'll do ok in the classes. Overall the whole experience will be a nice change from Helena, MT.

Scroll up to my last message. I edited it.

Lastly, for your sake, I hope you'll be in a Freshman Experience dorm. Doing so is important to making the friends you'll have for 4+ years. If you can decide between West and East campus, I'd take West.

Ya, chose to do FE. And i'm very social anyways. Picked Fitten and Montag (the coed FE dorms) as my top 2 choices.

I went to a large mid-western state school that has a dumbass bike race and prayed to a jerk who is a great basketball coach.

Colorado State - used to be a tradition of loosing at football most of the time, drinking heavily, studying a lot and complaining about how small fort collins is. now it's a tradition of being competitive at football, drinking heavily, studying a lot and complaining about how small fort collins is.
