That's good

Yeah, it would have sucked if they'd gotten any of the faculty.;)

I wonder how Google Adwords deals with this sort of stuff. If I write a column about the tragedy of school shootings, will my readers see ads for guns at the bottom? Or bulletproof vests? Or maybe homeschooling supplies?

This is at an "Alternative School" where the shooter was suspended apparently. "Alternative School" is a PC euphemism for a school where all the bad/troubled kids get sent because they can't act right in a normal school setting.

Yeah just think about putting all the bad kids from the Cleveland Public Schools together. :Q

I don't get why these kids seem to be getting such easy access to guns. Anyway, he's dead now. Glad no innocents lost their lives.

It is really terrible when I see a story like this one and my first reaction is to shrug it off and go to the next thread without thinking much of it. That says to me that this has been happening way too much lately and something serious needs to be done. Not that I know what to do :(

cnn says it's a specialty school where you apply to get in. and it's merged w/ the district admin offices apparently??

Hmmm...I read 'Alternative School' elsewhere. That's definitely different then.

Desensitized. Every week/other week theres another rampage in the US. Think even the news stations are giving them less attention now.

Yup, that was my point. It should never come to that in this country. I feel it lowers us as people. I know there are countless other examples of where Americans have become desensitized to one thing or another but man...

MTV is reporting that CNN is reporting that he killed himself-

"A 14-year-old student opened fire in the hallways of SuccessTech Academy high school in downtown Cleveland Wednesday afternoon (October 10), injuring five people. The student then shot and killed himself, according to CNN. "

But CNN is still showing

"It was not known if police shot the gunman or if he took his own life."

also from cnn on the type of school -

"It is a "school of choice" -- students have to apply to get in, said Ruthie Williams, also of the superintendent's office. She said classrooms are on the first and third floors of the four-story building and the rest contains the school district's administrative offices.

Cleveland fire, police and EMS are at the scene.

The academy describes itself on its Web site as a "small, nontraditional high school that provides a learning environment in which all student believe in their ability to succeed."

There was the shooting of 6 people in the mall last week, can't remember where but it was in the US. It was the second story on BBC News. I came onto AT expecting to find a thread but nada in OT or P&N

The local news (near Cleveland) was reporting that the shooter killed himself, no others have life threatening injuries.
