A bit too much!!

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/12/13/school-principal-bans-santa-thanksgiving-and-pledge-allegiance

Santa Claus is banned. The Pledge of Allegiance is no longer recited. “Harvest festival” has replaced Thanksgiving, and “winter celebrations” substitute for Christmas parties.

New principal Eujin Jaela Kim has given PS 169 in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, a politically correct scrub-down, to the dismay of teachers and parents.

“We definitely can’t say Christmas, nothing with Christmas on it, nothing with Santa,” PTA President Mimi Ferrer said administrators told her. “No angels. We can’t even have a star because it can represent a religious system, like the Star of David.” [more]
How much worse are things going to get??

THIS IS TOTALLY INSANE!!!!!!!! -- THIS PC CRAP IS OUTTA CONTROL AND DESTROYING THIS COUNTRY!!

Remember, the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of islam...

...or otherwise offend those with such sensibilities, obviously. Can't be having any expression of religion except that there is but one god, allah, and mohammad is his prophet. Seems like that's the only approved and protected expression of religious sentiment these days. Otherwise a follower of the religion of peace might be offended at your Christmas themes and go medieval on you.

Then leave the country.

I haven't said the pledge since I matured beyond obvious indoctrination in the 3rd grade. What's your excuse?

Even, if I was the most patriotic man in America, I would still call the pledge a load of bullshit!

Haven't you heard? We're all global citizens now, part of the great collective. Country borders, pledges of allegiance, nationalism, and country specific citizenship and laws are so passé. In fact, for the greater good, national sovereignty and identity is being consigned to the dustbin of history. No, you don't get a choice about that, the decision has already been made by the leaders of the great collective. They know what's best for all of us.

Seriously though, if someone's disdain for this country is so great they detest the pledge of allegiance, they should go somewhere else. There's a whole world of countries out there to pick from.

New principal Eujin Jaela Kim Goes Into Hiding After What She Did To Christmas, Parents are OUTRAGED they are demanding that she be fired.

That's not what your link says, you're just trolling.

As far as I can tell, she is refusing to answer phone calls from reporters asking her to justify her actions. Otherwise, she appears to still be employed.

Wow you two are so childish, it's pathetic.

You said something I don't like, leave! Authoritarian children. Just what the founders had in mind when they wrote the 1st amendment.

It's my opinion that someone who holds this country in such low regard that they detest the pledge of allegiance should find somewhere else they'd like to live and make such a pledge. If for nothing else, to do the rest of the U.S. citizens who are fine with this country and the pledge the courtesy of not trying to fundamentally transform the U.S.A. Golden rule, and all that.

Most things seem to be gibberish to Bernie supporters.
Sorry, I only speak english, and some french.

Ask yourself this,

What is a pledge?
Can children even fully comprehend the meaning of a pledge, and be expected to honor it?
Why would children need to take a pledge every day?

The only 'argument' you can make for this obvious brainwashing is tradition for the sake of tradition.

Ninety-five percent of the 1,600 kids at PS 169 are Asian or Hispanic.

Seems better to have a Cinco De Mayo and Chinese New Year and Diwali.

Is it your contention that the pledge is "bullshit" in any setting, or just in an elementary school setting?

I don't see the problem with the pledge in elementary school. It promotes social cohesion, helps to produce an identity for children, and a frame of reference for them to view the world at large.

Obviously when they're grown, they can re-evaluate the pledge and how they feel about it, as you did.

What you call brainwashing, most people call learning customs and traditions. You seem to think participating eliminates the ability to think and decide for yourself even though you've apparently done so. Let me edumicate you, society and nations are built to a great extent on custom and traditions. To dismiss them out of hand is foolish and self defeating. Thus, your viewpoint is illogical.

You should delete the word logic from your vocabulary.

Oh well, if they want Christmas then have it at the house. Winter celebration and harvest festival sounds fine with me.

Sure, if we're interested in making Indian, Chinese, and Mexican colonies within the U.S.. Or, you know, they could just be educated as Americans and assimilate culturally and linguistically. When in Rome, after all...

Or is that just racism and cultural insensitivity?

Gosh, that's enough to convince me.

Let me whip out the crayons for you then....

You didn't answer any of the questions, though they were rhetorical to show how incredibly nonsensical it all was.

Here, let me help you.

They shouldn't need to constantly repeat a pledge, as a pledge is a long lasting commitment. Which explains number two. It's obvious children don't understand what a pledge is, nor could they be expected to honor said pledge. Which is why they are told to repeat it constantly, indoctrination! Which brings us to the first question. I think we all know the basics, but the most important factor is that it's done knowingly, and willingly. In the case of the pledge of allegiance, the children neither have the knowledge of what they are doing, nor the choice. They are commanded to perform the task without even knowing what they are doing.

Now, this is logic! Ignorantly continuing on with a tradition for tradition's sake is practically the exact opposite of logic.
