I'm parked on York campus for a few days while I'm writing my exams, anyway it's 7$ flat rate for the day except it expires if you stay overnight at 7am.

So I didn't get up in time to get a new pass and I have a ticket, which doesn't list an amount. I've heard that this only matters if I'm registered to park at york all the time, and that they won't have any way of knowing who I am if I don't pay it, though I'm sure they took my license plate down.

So do you think I have to pay this like it's a regular ticket or just trash it ?

I say Trash it.

But truthfully, my primary interest is in the story you will post in the future about your car getting impounded.

If you're a student there, then you probably have to pay it as, in all likelihood, they'll keep you from graduating or being able to register.

If you're not a student there, then I think you can safely ignore it.

At state schools in NJ, they will tag parking tickets to the VIN. My brother got one at TCNJ and when he sold the car a couple years later, they would not transfer the title until the ticket was paid.

A lot of public institutions do tie in citations to state records so be careful. Private school citations are just trash though, unless you need to graduate or register there.

Yup, the U of M contracts with the city for its parking operations. The school has its own Parking Enforcement officers, but you have to pay any parking tickets you get at city hall. They are tied into city/state records, and if you get any combination of 5 city or U-M parking tickets, your car gets impounded.

yup. pay all city/state college/university parking fines. pretend it was issued by a real traffic cop.

if it was a private college, ignore it if you're not a student there

I think you do have to pay for it.

I got a parking ticket at UofT Scarborough campus, and it had the official City of Toronto parking ticket logo and all...so I just paid it off. Otherwise they don't let you renew your license/registration.

York is in Canada. I think our traffic/parking rules are different here, but I'm not 100% on that.

There are lots of Yorks. I was assuming he was at either York College of PA or Penn State University's York campus, but there are a number of places it actually could be.

This is true; however, if you are not a student there you are not necessarily going to want to ignore it.

Several years ago I had a friend come and visit me at college, he got a ticket, I told him to just ignore it, and when he enlisted to become a Marine he had to pay a substantial amount before they would allow him to join. So in short they are documented quite well in most cases.

i got one at western and i wrote them a little letter saying that i was just helping someone in residence move and i am not a student there and they said not to worry about it.
now my friend who is a student there tried to do the same thing and they were like "sorry about your luck! pay the fine!"
