Basically all low-end mowers are made by the same company now. Take a look at the store; branding doesn't matter. The decks are the same. Differences come in minor features and motors.

my honda hrx starts on the first pull after sitting in the garage all winter with gas in the tank (that I thought I drained).

My B&S power washer wont start with gas a month old and 50 pulls.

Honda is good, so is Craftsman. If you get a self-propelled make sure it's propelled from the front.

So wrong it hurts.

Do you push down or pull up on the handle of the mower? If you continually pull up, which I doubt anyone with human hands and arms does, you are actually decreasing the traction on a front drive mower. Gets worse when you have to really assist the mower over/through thick grass, etc.

Rear wheel drive, on the other hand, has its traction wheels on the rear (obviously), just below where you're resting/pushing down on the mower's handle, increasing traction.

Having had both, you couldn't give me a front wheel drive mower....well, other than letting me sell the cursed thing for a proper rear wheel drive mower.

Riding mower? John Deere. The Cadillac of riding mowers. Has stood the test of time.
Note: I'm talking a REAL John Deere, not the crap made by MTD that you can buy at Lowes that is green and labeled as a Deere.

So when did Deere sell the Greenville, TN plant to MTD? I saw that plant in 2010 and not a single MTD was seen, only the 100- and 300-series JD's being built.

Low end JD (push) mowers are now MTDs....no joke. I'm not sure about any of the riding mowers but I wouldn't be surprised.

Op be sure and find out if small engine repair shops in your area work on Honda engines . Where I live only one shop does , it's 20 miles from where I live and they take a month to fix it . Briggs / Kohler and really any motor but Honda I can get repaired within 2 miles of my house . Don't fill your new mower with gas and let it sit in the tank over the mowing season(winter) run all the gas out until the mower dies, that way your carb will stay clean . Don't store it outside uncovered . The cheapest mower is usually a really cheap pos . I have a 25hp garden tractor,a 6.5 sears Honda and a greenworks battery powered mower . I like the tractor first(it is now 12 years old) the greenworks , then the Honda . If you have a small yard maybe a battery(cordless) electric mower might work for you . Mine has been a dream . Starts with the push of a button , can cut at least 1/2 acre and you can adjust all four wheels with one lever(height adjustment)
