BSG should be watched before caprica.. always view things in order created... imo Caprica was so terrible that it is to be avoided at all costs.

Oh and ignore the whiners. Season 1-2.5 are amazing.. 2.5 is half good... season 3's beginning and end are great, and season 4 is amazing, especially the first half.

now that i've gone through a couple of episodes, in general I think it's pretty cool. the use of frack annoys me. It's distracting and wish they would just use fuck. Also while overall i think it's pretty good, there are some really cheesy lines thrown in that make you /facepalm.

i'm wondering if this was produced by HBO it would have been more awesome

I just started watching Season 1 and I'm completely hooked into this series. I love it!

remind me if i like you or not.

but even if you pissed on me while i slept, i think i may still be compelled by simple, decent, human nature to warn you of vile torment that awaits you at your eventual destination.

That's how all great series end:
For example:

Soprano's: Did my cable cut out. WTF?
Lost: Straight out WTF?
Star Wars: Ewok Disco? WTF?
Firefly: Fox that's it! WTF?

etc

the entire universe could've imploded into one single entity- the hot blonde cylon. fully nude.

there you go. better ending. i thought that up in about three tenths of a second.

BSG *was* amazing, for the first 2.5 seasons. The movie lead in - great. Season one - great. Season 2 - great. Season 2.5 - pretty good. Rest of BSG - total shit.

Its like they fired all the writers midway through and hired a bunch of unemployed soap opera idiots. Nothing made sense. Nothing was ever resolved. It got stupid and jumped teh shark way early. The series finale...omfg wtf so disappointed, left far more questions unanswered.

When they land on new caprica, finish that season and call it a day. You probably wont, just like i didnt, but there you go. The spinoff shows, garbage. Dont wast your time.

HTH.

Enjoy the first two seasons. But, after that, be prepared for a train wreck that you can't look away from.

ST: TNG being a notable exception to that rule. It could have gone on indefinitely.

Bump because I just started watching BG and am totally engrossed in it. Stupid 3 day netflix disc turnaround.

Nah, they were getting a little bit long in the tooth in the end. There are some crappy episodes in the last season, but they ended generally on a high note, especially considering how awesome "All good things" was. I prefer to have them end it before they descended to mediocrity.

Starbuck is a TRAP!

This better not be a goddamn spoiler you ahole.

But.. you miss the greatest ending ever written in any SCIFI show ever..

I just thought it was a "prequel". I have two episodes of it left and then I'll start the miniseries, darn job getting in the way.

It is but you're going to miss 50% of the important stuff because you haven't seen BSG yet.

With the exception of a few spots in Season 3, I thought BSG was awesome up until the last few episodes of Season 4. After that point, we all got trolled by the writers.

I completely forgot about this thread. I loved the series and thought the ending was very good. Compared to BSG, Caprica was complete garbage.

Yeah, I'm watching the last season for the first time since it was originally aired and I have to agree with you, here. :\

Looks like they were beginning to run out of ideas.

It starts great, but kinda drops off in the 3rd and first half of the 4th season, when the focus shifts to drama among the crew. :(

Actually the beginning and end of season 3 are great.. and the first half of season 4 is among the best of the show.

To the OP.. watching caprica ahead of time was a mistake.. always watch things in order released... oh and Caprica was pretty unwatchable.

TNG notably declined in the final season. DS9 was the opposite. BSG was great in the first half of the season, and only 4-5 episodes of the second half were good.

http://www.jammersreviews.com/ is a great source for BSG and trek reviews btw.

It seems like the majority feel the first half of Season 4 was good, but not the rest. Am I the only one who thought "The Oath" and "Blood on the Scales" were badass? I believe that was in the second half of the season.

Can you believe they have hired Bryan Singer to direct a film remake of the original BSG? I'm smelling failure. We may have our criticisms of the new BSG but from what I hear it is FAR better than the original.

My advice is watch the first couple seasons of BSG along with the mini-series. They were great. After that stop watching, it's best to quit while you're ahead.

Caprica makes more sense if you watch it after BSG, IMO. I thought Caprica was good, but nothing compared to BSG.

Just to point out, BSG deals a LOT with religion, mythology, god(s), angels, etc. It's a key part of the story from the start. Also, this is not a sci-fi show. It's a fantastic drama that just happens to be set in a sci-fi environment. It's all about the characters. Most people dislike the show more than they should because they weren't watching it right. These things became MUCH more apparent to me when I watched it a 2nd time through. I have to say, that 2nd time through was even better than the 1st time.

Yeah this. Definitely this.

I'm rewatching it from the start and about 1/2 way through S3 (just finished up "Maelstrom" for those of you who have seen it). The first few times I watched it, I was under the mindset of it was good sci-fi looking for that in it. Now I'm watching it from start-end without stopping (never done that because of the damn .5 season BS they did), and without any kind of expectations. I have to say, this is not a Sci-Fi show. It's a fantasy drama set in a sci-fi realm. It's almost entirely about the characters and the dynamics of their situation, and the space parts of it are more to move the story along instead of the other way around.

I have to say so far I am loving this series more than I ever did before though.
